Welcome to the memorial page for

Phyllis (Mackenzie) Crosier

December 2, 2016

Turners Falls- Phyllis (Mackenzie) Crosier, 81, of 17 Hillside Ave died Friday 12/2/16 at the Quabbin Valley Health Care Center in Athol.  She was born in Greenfield on March 26, 1935, the daughter of John and Cassie (Payne) Mackenzie.

Shortly after high school Phyllis started working at the beloved Garden Theatre in Greenfield. This first job was spoken of fondly over the years. Locally Phyllis worked at Sears and Wilson’s as well as a few specialty dress shops while living in Florida. Being in retail was easy for Phyllis as she always greeted customers with a sincere smile, a warm welcome and upbeat conversation.

When Phyllis wasn’t working she could often be found in the kitchen, usually dancing to whatever might be on the radio.  If it was a Sunday, she could be found worshipping at church.  She loved being a homemaker and spending time with her kids and grandkids. She had a talent for baking and cooking.  You could always go into the kitchen and find fresh cookies or brownies in the cookie tin. Phyllis greatly enjoyed anything to do with nature.  She often hiked and fished with her husband.  Phyllis was always drawn to the water whether it was the beach, a stream, lake or pool in the backyard.

Among her survivors, Phyllis leaves her husband Phillip “Scruff” Crosier; a son, Edward Gibson and his wife, Dawna of Greenfield; two daughters, Sherry Burgin and her husband Greg, of Greenfield, Melanie Huber and her fiance Richard Cloutier of Northfield; a brother, James Mackenzie; a sister, Marjorie Warner; ten grandchildren, Leigha Otto, Robert Shaw, Lewis Herzig, Theresa Clarke, Jeremiah Gibson, Grace Gibson, Derek Huber, Aaron Huber, Matthew Huber and Cassie Cloutier; and six great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at St. Kazimierz Society on Tuesday, December 13th, 2016 at 1:00 pm

Funeral services will be private.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

There will be no calling hours.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Faithful Companions 48 Laurel Street, Athol, MA 01331
