Patricia R. Houghton (Malloy)

SPOFFORD, N.H. —

Patricia Rose (Malloy) Houghton, 85, of Spofford died Saturday, March 11 after a lengthy illness.  She was born in Brattleboro, VT on March 13, 1931 and was the daughter of Anna (Wood) Malloy and John Francis Malloy of Greenfield, MA.  Pat grew up in Greenfield, MA, and was a 1949 graduate of Greenfield High School.

            Pat was a graduate of Sisters of Providence Nursing Program in Holyoke, MA.  Throughout her career as a registered nurse, she worked at The Providence Hospital, Franklin County Hospital (Greenfield, MA); Elliot Hospital (Keene, NH); VA Hospital (Denver, CO and Ann Arbor, MI); Jewish Home (Syracuse, NY); Holly Hill Nursing Home (Simsbury, CT); and as a school nurse at Monadnock Regional High School (Swanzey, NH).  

Pat married Carl G. Houghton in 1957 in Holy Trinity Church in Greenfield and was a dedicated wife to Carl for 54 years prior to his passing.  During these years the Houghton family lived in New Hampshire, Ohio, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut before returning to the area.  Pat was a wonderful, loving mother for her children and grandchildren as well a fun loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews.  Pat enjoyed living in southern NH for the past 35 years at the family farm in Spofford and enjoyed her garden.  She corresponded regularly writing cards and letters to family and friends, even until her last days.  To know her was to love her.

Pat was predeceased by her husband Carl of 54 years.  She leaves behind four adult children: Craig and his wife Beth of Biglerville, PA.; a daughter, Connie Van de Graaf and husband Peter of North Andover, MA; a son, Dan and wife Josephine of Boston, MA, and a son, David and wife Debra of Conway, MA.  Pat also leaves behind her brother Bryan Malloy and wife Karen of Greenfield, MA.

Calling hours will be held Saturday 3/18 from 10am -11am at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield.  Funeral services and burial will be private.
