May M. (Koziski) Collins

Montague- May Marie (Koziski) Collins, 90, of Turners Falls Road died Saturday 9/9/17 at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. She was born in West Hartford, CT on February 28, 1927, the daughter of Steven and Mae (Goodnough) Koziski.  May attended local schools in Greenfield and was a graduate of Greenfield High School Class of 1945. 

May was a clerk at Montague Rod & Reel, raised her children and then returned to work at the Rockdale and Railroad Salvage Stores for many years. 

She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, jigsaw puzzles and knitting.  She loved birds and especially loved scratching tickets. Her favorite times were spent with family and friends. She so enjoyed visits with her great grandchildren who always brought a smile to her face which she rewarded with chocolates. She was extremely grateful to be able to spend her final years in her apartment under the ever-loving care of her son, Gary and his family.  

Among her survivors, May leaves three sons, Gary and his wife Mary Ann of Montague, John Collins, Kevin Collins and his partner Charlene Arsenault, all of Turners Falls; two daughters, Karen Collins and her partner Jon Pike of Turners Falls and Lori Pulaski and her husband John of Swansey, NH; six grandchildren, Jason “Barney” Collins and his wife Shannon, Mandy Higgins and her husband Jason, Tia Collins, Crystal Brown, Jessica Johnson and Adam; five great grandchildren, Austin and Connor Higgins, Kaitlyn and Meghan Collins and Ashley Allis, her bother-in-law Raymond “Mixie” Collins and his wife Bernardette “Bernie” of Inverness, FL.  May also leaves many nieces and nephews and many dear friends, especially Bev, who was a constant companion to her.

May was predeceased by her husband John M. Collins on November 3, 2000 and twin grandbabies Frederick and Steven.

Funeral services will be held Thursday 9/14 at 9:15am from the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am at Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh Street, Turners Falls.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Turners Falls.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday evening from 5-7pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin County Sheriffs Office Regional Dog Shelter, 10 Sandy Lane, Turners Falls, MA 01376 or to Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh Street, Turners Falls, MA 01376.
