Leo L. Cloutier

April 27, 1920 ~ September 26, 2016 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Montague- Leo L. Cloutier, 96, of Laurel Lane died Monday 9/26/16 at the Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility in Greenfield.  He was born in Derby, VT on April 27, 1920, the son of Arsen and Louisa (Emond) Cloutier.  Leo attended local schools in Canada and has been a resident of Montague since 1932. 

He was a United States Navy Veteran.

Leo was a laborer for the Millers Falls Paper Company for twenty five years before his retirement in 1983.  Prior to that, he was employed at the Greenfield Tap & Die and the Erving Heel Shop.

Leo was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church and a former member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Leo enjoyed country western music and tap dancing.  He enjoyed woodworking and wood cutting; constructing his own home.  Leo loved gardening, fishing and hunting.

Among his survivors, Leo leaves his wife, Duane (Paulin) Cloutier of Montague, a son, Robert Cloutier of Greenfield; a daughter, Phyllis Orr of Schertz, TX;  a step son, Kevin Miller of Montague; a step daughter, Paula Silva of Simpsonville, SC; a brother, Roger Cloutier of Sherbrook, Canada; a sister, Noella Cloutier of Sherbrook, Canada; three grandchildren, Douglas Cloutier of Greenfield, Gregory Cloutier of South Windsor, CT and Tanya Orr of San Antonio, TX; three step grandchildren, Miranda, Maurice and Mya Silva; two great grandchildren Megan and Sarah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Leo was predeceased by his first wife, Yvonne (Demers) Cloutier in 1974, three brothers, Lionel Cloutier, Armand Cloutier, and Ovila Cloutier and four sisters, Florence Cloutier, Fabiola Lanthier, Anita Lanthier and Aldea Bordeaux.

A calling hour will be held Monday morning from 8:45am-9:45am at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Monday 10/3 at 10am at Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh Street, Turners Falls with the Rev. Stanley Aksamit officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Anne’s Cemetery in Turners Falls.
