Holly Christian

Greenfield-Holly Christian, 52, passed away at the Cooley Dickinson Hospital on Tuesday, April 10, 2018. She is survived by her mother Marilyn Christian and her sister Bonnie Christian of Greenfield, her brother
Daniel and nephews Jack and Ossie of Washington, her aunt Mary Furio of New York City and cousin
Angie McLean and Don McLean of Holden, MA. She was predeceased by her father George Christian.

Holly was born in Pittsfield, MA and raised later in Savoy, Greenfield and Buckland. She attended
Mohawk Trail H.S. and graduated from Northfield Mt. Hermon School. She received a BA from
Columbia University in NYC in English Literature and Psychology and an MA from the University of
Connecticut in 19^th Century English Literature. Later in her life she briefly attended Western New
England University School of Law. While in NYC she did editorial work at a technical publishing
company. In Massachusetts Holly did editorial work, worked with brain injured adults and was an
administrative assistant for many years in the English department at University of Massachusetts at
Amherst.

Holly was a lover of animals, drawing, literature and the unknowns of the universe. It was the
spaces between facts that were of most interest to her. Perhaps her greatest passion was for dogs-pretty
much any kind would do. She loved their earnestness, openness and effortless enjoyment of simplicity-
qualities which she also admired in others. What will be most missed about her was her dry wit and
ability to extract humor from the mundane. Holly wrestled with the inner forces of anxiety and
depression most of her life. She looked for answers to everything. Now she is one with everything.

She has been set free of physical burdens. Wherever you are, Holly, you're the new kid. Know that our
love and support will always be with you.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be Saturday, May 12th at 3pm at All Souls Church , 399 Main St., Greenfield, MA  01301
