Helen V. (Cyhowski) Makarewicz

Millers Falls---Helen V. (Cyhowski) Makarewicz, 91, died Wednesday (2-7-18) at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield.

She was born  on October 1, 1926 in Montague the daughter of Ignace and Mary (Kulis) Cyhowski.

She was a life long resident of Millers Falls and attended Turners Falls High School.

She was married to Charles P. Makarewicz in Feb. 15, 1947. They enjoyed 52 years together before his death in 1999.

Having worked 62 years following the succession of the Millers Falls Tool Co. in Millers Falls, to Greenfield  through to Diston Co. in S. Deerfield holding various positions in the tool making field, retiring in 2011 at the age of 84.

Although working, she was proud to also be a homemaker. She enjoyed bowling on various teams throughout the years with company workers and a Tuesday morning Ladies League. She also golfed with leagues in Northfield and Greenfield for many years. More recently she really enjoyed the friendship and activities of the Erving Senior Center.

Helen leaves her daughter Mary Sirum of Greenfield, a grandson Matthew Sirum of Greenfield, and a sister Joan Morawski of Turners Falls and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters Ceslawa Semaski, Alfreda Rozecki. and brothers Walter Cyhowski and Stanley Cyhowski.

Funeral services will be Friday (2-16-18) at 11AM at Kostanski Funeral Home 1 Kostanski Funeral Home in Turners Falls

A calling hour will be from 10AM until service time.

Burial will be in the spring in Highland Cemetery in Millers Falls.
