Edward "Butch" Margola Obituary

Gill- Edward “Butch” L. Margola, 71, died Thursday 4/5/18 at home.  He was born in Greenfield on August 25, 1946, the son of Julian and Stella (Milewski) Margola.  Ed attended local schools in Greenfield and was a graduate of Greenfield High School Class of 1964.  Ed continued his education and graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.  He was a Certified Public Accountant since 1973, in private practice in Greenfield for his entire career, much of it with his family.  He served as Treasurer of the Country Club of Greenfield for many years, he was Chairman of the Board at Greenfield Savings Bank, and was named the Treasurer of the Greenfield Education Foundation.  A life long golfer, he bravely took up downhill skiing in his 60s, he loved catch-and-release fly fishing and travelled multiple times to New Zealand and Canada to fish. Ed was a history buff and an avid concert goer; The Who and Tom Petty were among his favorites.  He was an accomplished wood worker and enjoyed crafting pieces for his family.  Ed ’s greatest pleasure was to watch his children and grand-children play sports; he was their biggest fan.  Among his survivors, Ed leaves his beloved wife of 22 years, Gillian Rosner; three daughters, Sarah Klumpp and her husband Matthew of Easthampton; Jocelyn Margola-Leete and her husband Michael of Erving; and Sophie Margola of Gill; four grandchildren, Calvin and Madeline Klumpp and Colby and Carter Leete; three sisters, Dorothy Lorde of Lowell, MA; JoAnne Gale and her husband David of Keene, NH; and Kathleen Fish and her husband Rene of West Chesterfield, NH; a brother, Michael Margola and his wife Minona of Greenfield; and several nieces and nephews.
