Welcome to the memorial page for

Dorothy "Dottie" E. (Kozik) Niedzwiedz

June 19, 2017

Erving- Dorothy “Dottie” E. (Kozik) Niedzwiedz, 88, of Goodell Place passed away Friday 6/16/17 at home.  She was born in Gill on May 23, 1929, the daughter of Stanley and Stella (Siciak) Kozik.  Dorothy attended local schools and was a graduate of Turners Falls High School Class of 1947- Go Indians!

On July 31, 1948 Dottie married Frank “Frankie” S. Niedzwiedz in Turners Falls and they made their home on Goodell Place.

In the early years Dottie and Frankie enjoyed bowling, golfing, polka dancing, and road trips with the “kids” all over the country visiting relatives.  After Frankie’s death in 1980, Dottie traveled by plane, bus, and cruise ships to places like Hawaii, Alaska, Missouri, Tennessee, New York, Aruba, Cancun and the Caribbean.  Dottie enjoyed cake decorating and made all the cakes for each of her children’s weddings, as well as any special occasion her grandchildren had.  She also enjoyed cooking and baking new recipes for family parties for everyone to enjoy. Over the years she became an avid collector of cardinals, enjoyed watching the Patriots and on Sundays loved to watch In The Kitchen with David on QVC.

She was employed at Strathmore Paper, formally Millers Falls Paper Company, for many years in their Millers Falls and Westfield offices and retired in 1991.

As her friends and family knew well, Dottie never forgot a birthday or anniversary. Whenever she went shopping she would stop in the card aisle and pick up the perfect card for someone, even if the event were several months away.

Among her survivors, Dottie leaves a daughter, Doris Jasinski and her husband Leon of Northampton; two sons, Francis and his wife Sandi of Erving and Richard of Gill; seven grandchildren, Peter Jasinski and his wife Andrea, Michael Jasinski and his wife Christine, Christopher Jasinski and his wife Val, Amy Eichorn and her husband Kurt, and Megan, Kimberly and Carleigh Niedzwiedz; and nine great-grandchildren, Hailey, Abby, Camryn, Thomas, Catherine, Samuel, Andrew, Emilie and Carson.  Dottie is predeceased by her husband, Frank, on January 16, 1980.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Thursday 6/22/17 at 10am at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 84 K Street, Turners Falls with the Rev. Sean O’Mannion officiating.  Burial will follow at the parish cemetery.

A calling hour will be held Thursday morning from 8:45-9:45am at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA  22215 or a donation to the charity of your choice.
