Amherst----Charles E. Ellsworth Sr., 81, formerly of Greenfield passed away peacefully Friday (4-28-17) at The Arbors in Amherst.

He was born in Greenfield November 16, 1935 the son of Charles and Margeret (Fraser) Ellsworth.

Charles was a graduate of Greenfield High School. He was a heavy equipment operator

for Mackin Construction Co for many years and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 98.

Charles enjoyed camping, gardening, reading, watching the Red Sox, puttering around the house, going to Brads Place every morning to see his friends, talking to people, history and taking care of his family.

He leaves his sons, John of Greenfield, Mike and his wife Kim of Easthampton, Charles Jr. (Ed) of Erving and Daniel of NH, and his grandsons, Miles and Landen.

Charles was predeceased by his parents and his wife of 54 years Edith in 2009.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday (5-3-17) at 10am with Rev. Dale Proulx pastor of Robbins Memorial Church officiating at Kostanski Funeral Home 220 Federal St. Greenfield, MA.

Calling hours will be Tuesday (5-2-17) 5pm to 7pm at the funeral home.
