Turners Falls- Arthur B. Lewis, Jr., 90, of  Millers Falls Road died Friday 9/8/17  at the Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield.  He was born in Wethersfield, Ct. on June 16, 1927, the son of Arthur B. and Inez (French) Lewis.  Art attended New Salem Academy.

Art served in the United States Navy from 1945-1949. Again 1958-1962.

He worked at the Greenfield Tap & Die for forty years last 10 years as a foreman.  After his retirement, Art was a bus driver for the Kuzmeskus Bus Company for many years.

In his earlier years, Art was a stock car driver at the Rhythm Inn.  He enjoyed NASCAR,golfing, fishing and spending time at his camp in St. Albans, VT.   Art was a member of the Montague Lodge of Elks for many years.

Among his survivors, Art leaves two sons, David Lewis and Arthur (Sharon) Girard, both of Turners Falls; three brothers, Ted of Wendell, Richard of Felton, DE and Carl from AZ; two sisters, Dolores Williston and her husband Harry of Wendell and Karen Lemere and her husband Jay of Walhalla, SC; eight grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great children; and several nieces and nephews.  Art also leaves his dog, Selenia.

Art was predeceased by his wife, Genevieve (Powling) Lewis in 1999 after 49 years of marriage; two sons, Richard Girard and Gary Lewis; a daughter, Linda Clarke and daughter in law Debbie Lewis; two brothers, Dale and Ralph Lewis; and three sisters, Ruth Thibeault and Mindge and Sandra Lewis.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday 9/12 at 10am at Plainview Cemetery in Leverett. 

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin County Sheriffs Office Regional Dog Shelter, 10 Sandy Lane, Turners Falls, MA 01376.
