Welcome to the memorial page for

Arlene F. (Pelis) Fortin

July 13, 2017

Bernardston- Arlene (Pelis) Fortin, 74, of South Street died Thursday 7/14/17 at the Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield surrounded by her family.  She was born in Greenfield on May 12, 1943, the daughter of Frank and Stella (Parda) Pelis.  Arlene attended local schools in Greenfield and was a graduate of Greenfield High School.

She owned and operated Arlene’s Hair Studio for many years.

Arlene enjoyed boating, her home in North Port, Fl, spending time at the ocean and her polka music.  She was very proud of her polish heritage.  Her grandchildren were the sparkle in her eye and she was most certainly the #1 fan of the New England Patriots.  Arlene was a very generous and caring woman who always had a smile on her face.  She was known to give selflessly, whether it be going grocery shopping for her elderly customers, taking care of the sick, or hosting celebrations for family and friends.

Among her survivors, Arlene leaves two daughters, Wendy Kendrick and her husband Marty, and Kerry Momaney and her husband Kevin, all of Turners Falls; two brothers, Richard Pelis of Colorado and Frank Pelis of Florida; four grandchildren, Troy Miller, Justin, Jordan, and Jocelyn Wyman; three uncles, Chester, Stanley, Donald Parda; her dearest friend of over 50 years, Andrea Slongwhite, her “Faith”-ful friend, Tom Currier; and several nieces and nephews.

Arlene was predeceased by her husband, Peter Fortin on July 31, 2014.

Funeral services will be held Saturday 7/22 at 9:15am from the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church with the Rev. Charles DiMascola officiating.  Burial will follow at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery in Greenfield.
