Angelina (Murley) Adie

October 11, 1918 ~ December 15, 2017 (age 99) 99 Years Old

Gill- Angelina (Murley) Adie, 99, honored as the oldest citizen of Gill, died Friday 12/15/17 at the Poet’s Seat Health Care Center in Greenfield.  She was born in Gill on October 11, 1918, the daughter of Charles and Abigail (Haigis) Murley.  Angelina attended local schools, and for a period of time worked at the Esleek Paper Mill in Turners Falls.

On September 3, 1938,  Angelina married the love of her life, Allan Adie at St. Mary's of the Assumption Church.  They were married 73 years before Allan predeceased her on April 19, 2012.

Angelina was a homemaker.  She was a volunteer at the Gill-Montague Senior Center for over twenty years where she worked as  a receptionist.  She also volunteered at the voting polls in Gill.  

Angelina enjoyed camping and bowling.  She loved knitting and crocheting and made afghans for all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Angelina was active in attending all of her children and grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities.  She was an avid UConn Girls Basketball, Red Sox and Patriots fan.  

 

Among her survivors, Angelina leaves three daughters, Beverly Demars of Gill, Judith Nelson and her husband William of Brattleboro, VT and Susan Sibley and her husband Guy of Gill; two sons, Allan Adie, Jr. and his partner Alice Lord of Northfield and David Adie and his partner Debra Hoyle of Shelburne; 19 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; three great great grandsons; a brother, Bernard Murley and his wife Roseanna; her former daughter in law, Jaimye Ingraham; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Allan, Angelina was predeceased by her three brothers, Russell, Thomas and Robert Murley, her sister, Beatrice Sears and her son in law, Emil Demars.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday 12/19 at 11am at Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh Street, Turners Falls.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Turners Falls.

A calling hour will be held Tuesday morning from 9:30-10:30am at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Poet’s Seat Health Care Center Activities Fund, 359 High Street, Greenfield, MA 01301.
