After the untimely early death of her mother, Helen moved with her father and two brothers to Montague City to live on the Kelleher Homestead. Her Aunt Molly returned to the home to care for the family.

Helen attended the Montague City elementary school and graduated from Turners Falls High School, class of 1944. She continued her education and graduated from The College of New Rochelle in 1948, and later earned her Master's Degree from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

After graduation, Helen taught in the Montague school system for 22 years, most of the time as a math teacher in the middle school.

In 1955, Helen married James "Tripp" J. Treml and they enjoyed 56 years of married life, living on Stevens Street in Turners Falls for 44 years. Although they had no children, they were always very attentive to their many nieces and nephews, as well as the neighborhood children.

Helen was a communicant of the former St. Mary's Church in Turners Falls, where she taught C.C.D. and was active in the St. Mary's Catholic Women's Council, where she headed the Philanthropic Committee for many years.

Helen was predeceased by her twin sister who died at birth, and her brothers Lawrence Kelleher and Patrick Kelleher.

Besides her husband James, Helen leaves many nieces and nephews.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday (2/4/12) at 11am in Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh St., Turners Falls. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
