Leyden-John Patrick Walsh, 61, of Leyden passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Boston, MA on Jan. 18, 1950 the son of James P. and Mary M. (Watson) Walsh.

John graduated from Don Bascoe School in Boston and also Boston Technical School.

John served his country in Vietnam from 1968-1971 as a hospital corpsman in Danang. After the war he became a precision machinist for the US Government.

John was an avid outdoorsman. His happiest days were around a campfire in the deep woods. He was an accomplished painter, sculptor and wood carver.

He is survived by brothers, Michael Walsh and his wife Katherine of Charlemont; James and Kathleen Walsh of Hawley; Joseph & Barbara Walsh of Boston; sisters, Patricia Saline of Leyden; Mary Baranow of Connecticut; and several nieces and nephews.

He was a kind and generous man and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Requiem eternam John.

A graveside services will be held at West Leyden Cemetery in the spring.
