Turners Falls-Anthony F. "Tookie" Muszynski, Sr., 87, of Dell St. died Tuesday (1/10/12) at home surrounded by his family and loved ones.
He was born on August 24, 1924 in N. Walpole, NH the son of Frank and Mary (Dubiel) Muszynski. He attended local schools in Turners Falls.
He was employed as a size maker for Strathmore Paper Company for over 40 years.
Anthony was a US Army Veteran who served during WWII. During his time in the service "Tookie" carried the Browning automatic rifle. He was a military policeman and a cook before becoming a head cook. He was awarded the Bronze Star.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church.
Anthony was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan who voiced his opinion when the teams were not playing well. He loved being a participant in the Strathmore Shop Softball league. He also enjoyed woodworking and crosswords puzzles.
Among his survivors, Anthony leaves his wife of 65 years, the former Helen Wysk, whom he married on June 21, 1947, a son, Anthony "Tony" Muszynski, Jr. and his wife Diane of Greenfield, a grandson, A.J. Muszynski of Chicago, IL, a sister, Adele Sheperd of Greenfield, and several nieces and nephews.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Friday (1/13/12) at 10am in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 84 K St., Turners Falls with the Rev. Charles J. DiMascola, officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
A calling hour will be Friday from 8:45-9:45am at the Kostanski Funeral Home in Turners Falls.
