GILL -- Pamela J. (Bastarache) Deery, 59, of French King Highway, died Saturday (8-21-10) at home surrounded by her beloved family.
She was born in Montague on May 8, 1951, the daughter of Joseph A. Sr. and Mildred L. (Sears) Bastarache.
She graduated from Turners Falls High School in 1969 and also attended the Thomas School of Nursing in Brattleboro, Vt.
Pam was employed for the Phoenix Mutual Insurance Co. for 13 years until 2000. Previously, she was employed for the Shady Glenn Restaurant for over 15 years.
She was a homemaker and loved decorating her home. Pam was a Junior Audubon Society member in her youth. Also, she was a Girl Scout and Brownie Leader and was a softball coach for the Montague Rec League when her children were growing up.
Pam was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, gardening and making hand-crafted gifts for family and friends. She was a talented artist and enjoyed reading, especially the Bible and also listening to gospel music.
Besides her mother of Turners Falls, she leaves her husband of 35 years, James T. Deery; a son, James J. and his wife, Bethany of Turners Falls; two daughters, Jennifer L. (McDonough) Waldron and her husband, Scott, of Gill, and Mauria (McDonough) Sirum and her husband, Stephen, of Montague; a brother, Joseph A. Bastarache Jr. of Turners Falls; her twin sister, Patricia J. (Bastarache) Culleny of Buckland; seven grandchildren, T. Jay Costigan, Brett Sirum, Teagan and Keara Glenn, Mitchell and Bryce Waldron and Grady Deery; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Gary D. Bastarache, in 2001.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls.
Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Gill.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Franklin County, 329 Conway St., Suite 2, Greenfield MA 01301.
