VERO BEACH, Fla. -- Frances Judith (Ortyl) Kuzontkoski, 84, of Vista Royal, Fla., formerly of Gill, Mass., passed away Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at The Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach. She was born in Willimansett, Mass., on Jan. 4, 1926, the daughter of Wojiech and Helen (Janas) Ortyl. A long time resident of Willimansett and Chicopee, Mass., she was also a graduate of Chicopee High School. She had been a resident of Vero Beach for the past 20 years. Mrs. Kuzontkoski attended the La Baron School of Cosmetology and worked in the cosmetology industry for 46 years. She was a member of the Massachusetts Cosmetology Association for many years. She was the former partner of Terry Sicard, and together owned the Town and Country Beauty Salon in Turners Falls for 25 years. While living in Florida she worked at a salon in Vero Beach. She was a parishioner of St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church of Vero Beach and Our Lady of Peace in Turners Falls. She was very proud of her Polish heritage and was a member of the Polish American Clubs of Vero Beach and Willimansett. She was an avid Polka dancer and loved to be out on the dance floor, and was featured in many periodicals such as The Post Eagle. Francesca, as her friends referred to her, was also an excellent cook of everyone's favorite Polish dishes. She is survived by her three sons, Carl and his wife Georganne of Ormond Beach, Fla., Chester and his wife Cheryl of Gill, Mass., and Michael of Albuquerque, N.M.; one granddaughter Lisa Kuzontkoski and two grandsons Colby and Chad Kuzontkoski, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Chester Kuzontkoski Sr., her brothers Joseph and Albin Janas, sisters Emily Bovin, Elisabeth Chlosta, Stella Masztal, and Jean Smith, as well as her long time companion and dancing partner Joseph (The Captain) Kosciusko Sr. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh St., Turners Falls. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls. Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
